Certificate in Mental Health in the Community – Dublin, Galway, Limerick, Athlone and Cork in Sept 2015

ACE at UCC in partnership with Mental Health Ireland are now inviting
applications to the innovative part-time Mental Health in the
Community Programme, for practitioners in health and social care,
volunteers and community groups, carers and advocates with lived
experience of mental health difficulties. The Programme will look at how
communities can enhance mental and emotional well-being through
best practice in mental health promotion and suicide prevention. It
takes a recovery approach to mental health in the community in
meeting the needs of people who experience mental health difficulties.

“When I began the Certificate, I brought many
deeply personal issues relating to my own
experience as a service user. As each module
progressed, I understood that I was learning a
language that enabled me to reassess my own
experiences in a coherent framework that gave
definition and understanding to what had
previously been for me an inexpressible
experience. I have gained huge personal
benefit from the learned ability to place my
experience into perspective as a direct
consequence of my learning from this course.”
-Kevin Fewtrall, Graduate
