--- Belfast Hearing Voices Group ---
Meets fortnightly at LAMP Offices, Alpha House, 3 Rosemary St, Belfast - 028 90242982
The Belfast group has been running for a number of years after a founding member of the English hearing voices movement, Jacquie Dillon came to Belfast. Since then we have been to a number of conferences as a group, including Manchester, Canterbury and a number of other one day conferences at which we have done work shops about the positive benefits of self help groups for voice hearers.
We have also been interviewed on the local radio station Feile FM and in the Belfast Telegraph. You can listen to the Feile FM interview in the AUDIO section.
At
the moment there are seven members and it is facilitated by Karen a social
worker from the adolescent ward of Knockbracken. Pete Brown facilitates a
group in the NI mental health association's Beacon Centre.
Both groups are doing well but we are still trying to get the word out for
new members and facilitators alike.
From Pete Brown, treasurer, Hearing Voices NI.
